pft she's Neighbours's only individual nominee I think... she's only been guest roles in other shows, but Kate Bell, who is also nominated in that category, has been in like bloody Blue Water High and other shows as main's and somehow she's still nominated for her tiny winey lesbian role in Home and Away which was like for a month

usually i hate how home and away or other shows that i have never actually heard of steal the limelight away from neighbours but in this instance i hope they do!
i really really don't want her to win. Sorry but that's how i feel. Anyway if Margot couldn't win last year i can't see how ashleigh can. She's no where near as popular as Margot is

wasn't that why Eloise wasn't allowed in that category a few years ago?

Apparently. And James too for that matter. Eloise has been in shows since the early 2000s, James was in BWH in 2006. They weren't even on the early, initial nomination forms (from what I remember) in their first year of Neighbours.
This makes me so mad, that flipping home and away have almost all the nominations in some categories...I used to think it was rigged in Ch9's way but now it's looking more and more like ch7 are bribbing...seriously not THAT many people would vote for those people would they?

James's call of duty Neighbours star James Sorensen explains why he's trading television for the trenches
In a case of life imitating art - well, almost! - James Sorensen dons a navy officer's uniform as he performs a cheeky striptease in some of his final scenes as a single dad Declan in Neighbours this week. As TV WEEK recently revealed, the 23-year-old stunned both his fellow castmates and his fans by deciding to turn his back on stardom and join the army. Just days away from fronting up for military duty, James took some time out for a candid chat. And one thing was clear: the popular actor has no regrets about committing to a new career in the armed forces.
How long had you been thinking about joining the army? I've wanted to since I was about 12, when some people came to school to talk about the army. I've always been very patriotic.
Do you see it as a lifelong career? I'll see how I go. I just knew that if I didn't do it now, I was always going to regret it.
How did the Neighbours cast react? They've become like family, so they were always going to be worried about me. But they know it's something I've always wanted to do, so they're happy for me.
Did anyone try to talk you out of it? Everyone did! But if I don't like the army, I can always come back. I don't think acting is something you ever lose. I also couldn't have done it without my family's blessing.
So do you have any nerves? No, not at all. I've been preparing with my trainer, Jay Shepherd, for the past three years - two years specifically for this. There's been blood, sweat and tears.
Well it's certainly paid off! How many hours are you working out each day? Four to six. I do anything from weights, to running up and down stairs, to skydiving. I don't think I could get any fitter. But I'm sure the army will change that!
Tell us about your last day on set... Jane (Hall, who plays Rebecca) cried. Ashleigh (Brewer, who plays Kate) also shed a tear. It was mixed emotions. When you first walk into the show, you think, "That's Harold and Karl. This is crazy! I'm acting with these guys!" Then they turn into friends and you end up spending more time with them than you do with anyone else - they turn into family. So it's kinda rough. But they're friends I'll keep for a very long time.
Did you receive any farewell gifts? The core cast I worked with gave me a Tiffany silver tag, which they had engraved with "GI James" on the front and "Be safe" on the back. It means a lot to me.
Erin Mullally is taking over the role of Declan. How do you feel about that? Declan's been my project for the past three years. He's pretty much been my life. When the producers said to me, "We don't want to lose Declan", I found that very humbling. And Erin's a lovely bloke. I sat down with him and told him about Declan's history with all these characters. I'm sure he'll do a great job.
Did you have any advice for him? "Don't stress!" I also told him, "You're not me. You're being handed this role, so it's your role now."
What are your hopes for Declan? He's so settled and happy now, so I'd like him to just sit there for a while. That said, the storylines around Bridget's death were so challenging for me as an actor. I've also loved working with Ashleigh and the other Ramsays.
Did you take any souvenirs? No. I should have taken something from Harold's Store, like a menu, and flogged it off!
Will you miss the limelight at all? I've never really been a big fan of all the glitz and glamour. Going to premieres was never really my thing. Instead, I'll be face down in a trench of mud. I can't wait!

Thanks suse, I'll admit I shed a tear reading that going to miss him so much but I'm glad he's doing something he wants to do. I like the GI James tag, what a beautiful idea. But yes, the end is coming

i always get the impression that they are primed a little bit in what they say in as much as he mentions that he likes working with Ashleigh and the Ramsays - because everyone knows they (the ramseys) and kachlan have been a monumental flop and recently like that girl who plays summer saying how great the new declan is. Damage limitation i call it Anyway end of era that he is going. If he wanted to join since he was twelve why go into acting

im gonna miss him even if i do get mad at him for kacklen maddness but its truly an end of an era as he was the original Declan of Decget we thought the era had ended when Eloise left and Bridget died but now it is truly the end well for me anyway

Thanks for the article Suse!
If he's been training for the last three years, and specifically for the army for the last two years, why couldn't he have left when Eloise did?! Would've saved us alot of heartache! He clearly didn't plan on sticking around on Neighbours long term either way.
Best of luck to him though, hope he stays safe and happy.

Found this on Neighbours Source, it was from TV Week from January apparently. Unsure if it's been posted but I found it a good read.
Want to be a TV star? Think you’ve got what it takes to be on the telly? Find out how to get there from the people who’ve done it
James’s story I started drama as an elective in Year 7 and really enjoyed it, so I kept doing it. After school I was working in hospitality and looking elsewhere for a bit of money and I thought, “Well, I like acting.” I got an agent, and things flew from there. I got a few gigs as an extra in kids’ shows, like Wicked, but it wasn’t really satisfying my need for a challenge. A few months later I got a small part in the film Hating Alison Ashley (2005), then a few months after that I landed a main role in Blue Water High (as Mike). It was actually the easiest audition I’ve ever done - I did one read-through, they told me to take my shirt off, and I left in 15 minutes! It was pretty surreal - I’d be sitting on a surfboard in 30 degree weather and getting paid for it! Then it turned to winter and we were doing the same thing in 10 degree weather and it wasn’t fun. I landed hypothermia a few times.
After that I went back to hospitality, then I got a call from my agent saying [Neighbours casting director] Jan Russ had asked me to audition. I had three or four auditions and a group audition with two other candidates for my role (Declan), and four girls who were going for Bridget. They picked me and Eloise (Mignon) and we started three days later. Two and a half years on, here I am. I still love what I’m doing, because the people are amazing. It’s an amazing job and a terrific springboard for future acting gigs.
The good side: I’m doing something that I enjoy and I also have financial security. Sometimes you work 80 hours a week, but sometimes you only work 20, so you’ve got time to do your own thing. Doing publicity’s good - you get to travel.
The bad side: When you go out with your mates, people hassle you. You walk down the street and people ask for autographs.
James’s tip: Get an agent. A good one won’t charge fees - they’ll only charge you 10 per cent, and they’ll only get paid when they get you a job. And they need to have small books, not 700 people. Call your agent every week or two and maintain a good relationship with them.
