In other words..ITS MADE UP!!After the heaviness of the last couple of chapters I thought it was time for some meaningless fluff and I wanted to move time on towards the end of the year. Hope its OK
.
It was a Saturday afternoon and Eloise was reading in the banana lounge on the balcony. The end of the year was fast approaching and her hectic schedule had left her exhausted. They had filmed the pregnancy storyline and they were both thrilled with the results. They both relished the challenge and tried to bring as much realism to their characters predicament as the G rating and the script allowed. The rafting scenes were another challenge for them, physically anyway, and the filming schedule had been relentless. Now there were only a few weeks left of filming for the year and she was looking forward to the Christmas break.
The sun on her face felt amazing but her peace and quiet was interrupted by her mobile phone, but she smiled when she saw James S flash up on the screen.
“Hey,” she answered chirpily.
“What are you doing?” he asked.
“What do you think?” she responded.
‘Reading,” he quipped.
“Correct,” she exclaimed with false excitement, “What are you doing?”
“Guess,” he said cheekily.
“Well I am guessing you were up early, went for a 10 km run, and then spent a few hours at the gym.”
“Correct,” he laughed.
“And now you’re bored so you have decided to annoy me,” she continued.
“Well actually…I am ringing to ask you out on a date,’ he teased.
“James,” she sighed, “special friends don’t go out on dates remember.”
“Oh…fine. I was ringing to see if you were available to accompany me on a special mission tomorrow,” he said in a mock posh tone.
Now she was suspicious.
"What have you bought now?”
James couldn’t believe she had guessed. She really could read him like a book.
“What makes you say that,” he spluttered.
“Pffttt are you serious? You forget too quickly how well I know you. I can tell by the excitement in your voice.”
“I get excited about things besides buying stuff,” he stammered as he tried to feign innocence.
“Not this excited,” she laughed, “so are you denying it?”
“Noooo,” he moaned, “anyway are you going to join me or not. I really want you to come with me. It’s supposed to be a gorgeous day tomorrow, I’ll bring a picnic lunch, and we can dine in a nice secluded spot, and spend the whole day together….no interruptions.”
She loved the sound of that.
“Well what girl could refuse an offer like that,” she said seductively.
“Mmmmm don’t talk to me like that,” he moaned, “you’re killing me.”
She smiled to herself.
“What time are you going to pick me up?” she asked.
“About 8.30,” he answered.
“What,” she exclaimed, “but its Sunday. How about 9.30?”
‘Oh for heavens sake, 9 o’clock…deal,” he laughed.
“Deal,” she agreed happily, “and I’ll bring the picnic lunch. You always feed me so it must be my turn.”
“Ok! And bring your swimmers. See you tomorrow.”
The next morning Eloise was so looking forward to their ‘special mission’ that she actually got out of bed early and prepared them a nice healthy lunch. They had been so busy at work over the last couple of months that they didn’t really get the opportunity to spend any time together alone. Even after work they struggled to escape the company of everyone else without looking suspicious, so having the entire day with him was going to be bliss.
She grabbed her things when he heard his car pull up and she could see his beaming face through the car window as she approached. She put her belongings on the back seat and hopped in the front.
“Morning,” he said sweetly as she got in and he leaned across to kiss her softly on the lips.
“Mmmm morning,” she sighed as she continued to kiss him.
‘Uh! Don’t start that. There will be plenty of time for this later,” he said seductively.
“This had better be good,’ she said disappointed.
“Oh it will,” he promised.
And it was.
Ten minutes later he pulled up outside a luxury car dealership.
“Oh my God you haven’t,” she squealed excitedly.
“I have,” he squealed back, even more excitedly.
For the last 6 months James had been loitering in that caryard, dreaming of a Porsche and finally the car of his dreams with an acceptable price tag had emerged the previous day.
And now it was his.
Eloise knew which car he had bought as soon as she spotted it.
“That one,” she said, pointing to the silver Boxster with its roof down.
“That’s scary,” he said, shocked that she had picked it straight away.
“Well you have only been going on about the car of your dreams since I first met you,” she laughed.
“Yeah but I didn’t think you were actually listening. I thought you were just nodding to be polite,” he joked.
James went into the office to finalise the paperwork and he soon emerged with the keys and a massive grin.
“We’re all set,” he said excitedly, “I’ll just get everything out of the car and then you and I are going cruising.”
“OK! Now do you want me to give you a hand or do you want to be alone with eva to say goodbye,” she said seriously. EVA was the number plate of his now former car and what they both affectionately referred to it as.
“No it’s OK. I had a moment with her this morning before I left and I gave her a thorough wash and polish last night,” he sighed, “she knows I still love her.”
Eloise struggled to contain her giggles.
“Yeah! Until a more attractive model that goes faster came along,” she teased.
“Ssshh she might hear you,” he giggled.
“So what’s the number plate of this car,” Eloise asked as they approached the new purchase.
They both walked around the back and looked at the number plate and Eloise burst out laughing. It read PUS 578.
“Pus! James exclaimed in horror, “I can’t call my car pus.”
Eloise was doubled over with laughter now and it took her a few minutes to recover.
“Well I am glad you’re amused,” he said deadpan.
“Oh come on. You have to admit its pretty funny,’ she said as they climbed in and admired the interior, “why don’t you get personalised plates. If you have splashed all that money on the car a bit more for number plates won’t hurt.”
‘Yeah maybe, I always thought personalised plates were a bit pretentious,” he shrugged.
“Pretentious!’ Eloise exclaimed, “and driving around in a Porsche isn’t?”
“Shut up!” he moaned.
They sat in ‘pus’ and admired its interior.
“You know it reaches 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds and has a top speed of 250 km/hr,” he said proudly as he surveyed his new love in awe.
“Um yeah…so,” she said looking at him quizzically, “what does that mean?”
“Umm...I don’t know...it means it’s um…,” he struggled to come up with a valid answer.
“Really expensive,” Eloise chirped.
“Smart arse,” he snarled jokingly at her.
“Well that’s all well and good but that doesn’t change the fact that the speed limit is only 60 km/hr,” she laughed.
“Ok let’s take this baby for a real workout. I thought we might take the Ocean Road. There is a really nice quiet spot on the river that I discovered once. It’s beautiful, private, and I really want you to see it. It’s about an hour away,” he said as he started the engine.
“Sounds perfect,” she said softly as she smiled at him and played with the hair at the base of his neck.
They pulled out of the dealership, both looking forward to their romantic day ahead.
Tbc…..
