In other words..ITS MADE UP!!WARNING - Occasional coarse language and almost sex scenes .Eloise looked at Sal in disbelief when she heard the bashing on the door. She knew full well who it was.
‘I cannot believe him,’ she fumed, “he is going to cop it.”
She headed for the door but Sal stopped her.
“No no no you don’t,” she insisted, “You stay here…I’ll get the door.”
“Yeah well you can tell him to f%#$ off,” Eloise yelled loudly enough for him to hear.
Sal rolled her eyes and shook her head at Eloise. She actually felt sorry for James. Her housemate was, most of the time, quite mild mannered and lady like and it took a lot to rile her, but when she lost it …look out. Sal had a feeling that James could give back as good as he got though.
“I want to talk to her,” James said abruptly as soon as Sal answered the door, and he barged past her into their lounge room and headed for El’s bedroom.
“Well hello to you too,” she said sarcastically.
Eloise stormed out of her room before he got there, and it was on.
“How dare you come over here,” she screamed at him.
“How dare you hang up on me,” he yelled back.
“Well you said it was over. What more is there to say?” she said incredulously.
“Oh I have plenty more to say,” he said bitterly.
“Well I don’t want to hear it,” she hissed back.
“Oh that’s a surprise. When do you ever care what I have to say or how I feel,” he accused.
Eloise stood there, mouth agape. Sal knew this wasn’t going to be pretty.
“You’re a f$%king arsehole,” she said, incensed at his accusation.
“And you’re a f%^king bitch,’ he spat back.
“OK that’s enough,” Sal raised her voice and went and stood between them.
“Both of you…on the lounge...now,” she hollered.
They both looked at her, surprised, but they did as they were told. They sat on opposite sides of the room and gave each other a look of death.
“Oh for heavens sake,” Sal sighed.
She sat on the ankle breaking coffee table and took a deep breath. She knew she had her work cut out for her and wasn’t quite sure whether they wanted to kill each other, or tear each clothes off. She suspected a bit of both.
‘Right, now this is all very entertaining for me, but hurling abuse at each other isn’t going to get you anywhere. I suggest you both calm down and actually try talking to each other.”
"Yeah well tell her that,” James responded resentfully.
Eloise shook her head at him in disdain.
“Well you can tell him that we have nothing left to talk about and he can just f%ck off.”
“You really are a bitch,” he yelled at her.
‘ENOUGH,” Sal shouted,” Jesus Christ listen to yourselves. I feel like I’m in an episode of Underbelly but without the blood and guts.”
“Yeah well there might be in a minute,“ Eloise said under her breath, but it was loud enough for Sal to hear.
She had had enough.
“Right that’s it. Both of you in the bedroom now,” she instructed.
“What? “ Eloise asked bewildered.
“You heard. This is getting nowhere fast and you are interrupting my favourite show. So get in your room, sort it out, and don’t come out until you have.”
“But..,” Eloise spluttered, “you can’t send me to my room. You’re not my mother.”
“Well you’re both acting like teenagers dragged up in a trailer park, and I don’t want to listen to it anymore. Go on…get,” she instructed.
They were both too stunned at her outburst to argue and they tentatively headed for El’s bedroom.
“Hurry up,” she instructed, ‘and if I hear anymore yelling or swearing you’ll both be sorry.”
And with that she slammed the door after them. Sal flopped back into the lounge pleased with herself. She suspected they would either kill each other or devour each other, and she hoped it would be the latter.
In the bedroom Eloise and James stood, arms folded, just glaring at each other, until he accidentally kicked her shattered phone.
“What the hell,” he said picking it up.
“You broke it,” she snapped.
“I didn’t touch the f$%*ing thing,” he shouted dumbfounded.
“You made me throw it,” she screamed at him.
“I can still hear you. I don’t want to have to come in there,” Sal called from the lounge room.
They fell silent again
“Well I don’t know what you’re going to do but I am going to sleep,” she told him haughtily as she went and switched off the light and flopped into bed.
As soon as she pulled the covers up, he flicked the light back on.
She shot him an evil look as he continued to stare at her with folded arms.
She flung the covers back, stormed over and flicked it back off.
He flicked it back on.
She raised her hand to flick it back off but he grabbed her wrist. She tried to reach across with her other hand but he grabbed that as well. She struggled against his hold but in an instant their anger at each other had turned to lust and desire as their eyes burned into each others.
He pulled her towards him until their lips were only centimeters apart. They couldn’t resist any longer and their lips met fiercely.
They fell against the door as they kissed furiously and their hands roamed each others body wildly. His lips moved down her neck and she entwined her fingers in his hair as she struggled to keep quiet.
“This doesn’t mean we’ve made up,” she whispered breathlessly.
He stopped devouring her neck, looked into her eyes and shook his head before kissing her again...hard. His hands moved up and down her back frantically under her pyjama top and she delighted in the feel of his hands on her bare skin.
But then he stopped abruptly and pulled away. They stood there looking at each other, shocked at what had just happened between them, not knowing what to say next.
“What?” the silence was killing Eloise.
James searched her eyes, panting.
“I don’t know what you want anymore,” he said sadly, “one minute you’re ignoring me, and then you kiss me like that. You are driving me insane.”
She could see the sadness and confusion in his eyes and hated that she was solely responsible for it. The fighting had to end…now!
“I don’t know what to tell you,” she said tearily. She slowly walked over to the bed and hopped in. She pulled the covers back and beckoned him to join her. James hesitated but soon kicked off his shoes and hopped in next to her. She grabbed his hands and wrapped them around her so he was snuggled in behind her. They lay there holding each other in silence before James spoke quietly.
“Sometimes I feel like I want to risk it all so that we can be together, and knowing that you won’t makes me feel like I’m not important to you. I feel like the job is more important to you than I am, and that really hurts, that’s what makes me so angry.”
She listened intently to him and hated that she made him feel that way.
She turned to face him and gently caressed his face.
“You really have got it all wrong. It’s not the job I won’t risk James. I really couldn’t care less about it to be honest. But what I won’t risk is you...our friendship. I couldn’t bear to lose you, and if we have an intense relationship at work and then away from work I’m scared that one of them will give, and it would kill me if it was our relationship.
“Don’t you think it’s a bit late for that? You can’t tell me this isn’t intense,” he said softly as he brushed her hair behind her ears.
‘This is what I was trying to avoid,’ she sighed,” I thought if I kept you at arms length we wouldn’t end up fighting or screaming at each other like we have been. I guess it wasn’t very successful huh.”
She sighed loudly before she spoke again
“Maybe the best thing for both of us would be for me to quit the show. Then we can be together properly, I can go back to uni. Everything would be so much simpler.”
James looked at her like she had lost her mind. He hated the thought of her leaving and hated that it was his actions that night that had made her consider the idea.
“WHAT!” he exclaimed,”No way are you doing that. We’re a team; I couldn’t stand being there without you. No way am I letting you do that so just forget it.”
“It was just an idea,” she said trying to calm him down.
‘It’s a crap idea. Look I know we can do this. As long as I know you want to be with me when we have finished together then I can wait. I just lost the plot today because I have missed you so much.”
“OK OK! Forget I even mentioned it,” she said taking him into her arms.
They held each other tightly before James pulled away.
“I am so sorry,” he said gently, “I said some awful things to you tonight.”
“I’m sorry too, and I was horrible to you. You just make me crazy sometimes,’ she sighed.
“I like that I make you crazy,” he smiled cheekily.
“Really?” she said raising her eyebrows, “well I love how sexy you are when you’re angry. Not that I want you to be angry with me like that again though”.
He laughed as he pulled her into a hug.
“I guess I had better get going so you can get some sleep,” he whispered as he ran his fingers down her back.
Eloise shook her head.
“Stay?” she said looking deeply into his eyes.
He smiled and nodded and she rolled over as he snuggled in behind her and soon fell asleep.
Eloise however felt restless. She very much doubted if they could keep this up for another 2 years and the seed of doubt about her future on the show had now been well and truly planted.
