the thing is the whole point of Dec was that he loved Didge so much. Even non fans were intruiged to see how Dec would cope without the love of his life. So they go and do this and it just makes Declan seem really fickle.
I think the producers are just desperate to get the popularity Decget had so they figure that if they rerun the story again but with a different girl it will work. Problem being that it was the amazing chemistry between James and Eloise that made the story run and what they did with the material not the material itself.

Hmm, so rather than recast Dan because Brett wants to leave, they wreck what was actually a half decent storyline and basically turn Dan into a horrible person in a matter of weeks, yet with James deciding to leave, not only are they stripping his character of all his spark and passion, they're keeping the character on to continue to be the complete drip he's been turned into.

and viewers arent going to be sucked in to a second copy of decget either, they're were one of a kind and special and nothing can replace that!

So they go and do this and it just makes Declan seem really fickle. I think even if they'd had Declan grow close to Kate and develop feelings but struggle with acting on them because of his guilt about betraying Didge, I could have accepted that as it's entirely realistic that he could develop feelings for someone else but struggle, although maybe not being in love. If they'd done it with Declan for any girl it would have been more believable but to turn him into a completely shallow drip (shallow because she needed a makeover to get him to even notice her) is just ridiculous.

i do agree that it's entirely realistic that he will develop feelings for someone and struggle but i don't think it's particuarly realistic that he's done it less than 6 months after she died.

I really don't get why people prefer Dec/Kate to Dec/Didge. They seem so dull together!

That's another thing I don't get, they said Didge was selfish and their relationship was all about her yet now we have Declan following Kate around and dropping everything to do her bidding.

I will never understand the 'Didge was selfish' thing!

The one that stands out for me in terms of them saying Didge was really selfish, besides the adoption saga, was their wedding when people called them selfish because they found enough time to invite their friends and not their parents, forgetting that their friends were already on their way to help Declan with the car before Didge decided she wanted to get married.

i understand how they can say didge was selfish in the adoption bit, i thought the same thing, and i felt bad for dec, but seriously any 17 year old who is about to become a mother would have the adoption thought go through their mind at least once, i know if i got pregnant now i'd probably adopt my child out because i know as a 17 year old i couldnt give him or her the life that they deserve but to call her selfish in the whole relationship is harsh! what about when Declan lost his footy career? she was there for him, and through the whole Ringo's an idiot saga she was there for him! and Declan was selfish at times as well, like the wedding, he wanted them to get married and wouldnt take no for an answer and when he ran off on her when he first found out he was going to be a dad
that's the level that relationships work on! sometimes you are selfish but you still love the person anyway!!

But in this one, everything seems to be KateKateKate.
Even in one episode, ages ago, he went in looking for baby formula that he needed pretty quickly yet 5 mins later he was at her house waiting for Harry.

I felt sorry for Declan and she should have discussed it with him but I completely understood why Bridget wanted to adopt Indy out, if I was seventeen I don't know what I would eventually do but I would definitely consider all options.

I laughed so hard when she told Donna she never had a boyfriend and had to actually ask Declan how he felt about her. She really needs to take some lessons that kiddo
