I have had this chapter whirring around in my head since I first started this fic..but of course when I finally got to actually writing it I really struggled...thats why it has taken me so long. Anyway I hope its good enough.
DISCLAIMER - This story is fictional and in no way reflects the actions or day to day activites of the characters involved. In other words..ITS MADE UP!
Eloise couldn’t believe James was there, standing in front of her, and she stood at the door with a gaping expression on her face. She didn’t know whether to jump into his arms or slap his face.
He stood there, in the rain, and stared nervously at her. He wasn’t sure how she would react to him, but the look on her face was hardly encouraging.
"El…” James said as he began to move towards her, but she panicked, and for the third time that day he had the door slammed in his face.
He jumped back slightly, to avoid being hit in the nose, and she stood with her back to the door, in a state of total confusion.
"Please let me in?” he begged quietly.
“No!” she replied abruptly, “I came up here to get away from you. What the hell are you doing here?”
“What do you think I’m doing here? I came here to sort this mess out. Now open the door. We can’t talk properly like this,” he replied desperately.
“I can hear you perfectly well through the door and there is nothing you could say that could possibly sort this mess out. Its irreparable.” she said curtly as she slid down the door and sat on the floor.
“But it’s raining!” he exclaimed in horror.
“Tough,” she replied coldly, “You’re not coming in here so you may as well just leave now.”
Deflated, but not defeated, he too slid down the door and sat on the step in the rain, with his head leaning back against it.
He sat there in silence, deciding to wait until she was ready to communicate with him. He would sit there all night if he had to.
Eloise sat there waiting for him to say something, but all she could hear were frogs croaking. She hated frogs. It was only a few minutes but it felt like an age to Eloise and she became anxious and irritable at the silence.
She put her ear up against the door but still couldn’t hear anything.
“That arsehole has left,” she muttered incredulously under breath, “How could he?”
She couldn’t resist checking.
She got up on her knees and slowly opened the door, but was greeted with his face through the crack. He stuck his hand in to prevent her from closing it, but she was in a better position and she slammed it shut on him a second time.
“Hey! You nearly took my finger off,” he exclaimed.
“Well you’ve got 10, and serves you right for trying to trick me,” she yelled at him, although she was secretly relieved that he hadn’t just given up on her.
“El…I swear to you…nothing happened with Lisa. I didn’t touch her. She manipulated both of us. Surely you know I would never do that to you,” he explained in desperation.
Eloise heard what he said and tried to process it as best she could. Hearing those words felt like a weight lifting off her heart, but she was reluctant to trust him.
“No I don’t know anything of the kind and how do you expect me to believe you. I know what I saw. Her in your shirt and both your clothes scattered around your bedroom. Do you have any idea what that felt like? I felt like my heart was ripped out of my chest,” she said, her voice beginning to falter.
“I know what she made it look like, but I promise you I was as surprised to see her as you were. You have to believe me. Please open the door. I need to look at you,” he said in quiet desperation.
She let her head fall back against the door. She really did want to believe him, but she was scared. Scared of making a fool of herself, and scared of getting hurt again.
“Look I won’t try and come in. I just need to look into your eyes,” he said quietly when she didn’t answer.
She finally realized he was right. He could give any explanation under the sun, but she would be able to tell from his eyes whether he was telling the truth or not.
Slowly she opened the door, just slightly so they could see each other through the opening as they both continued to sit on the ground, James now absolutely saturated.
A wave of relief flowed through him as he heard the door open. Finally he felt like he was getting somewhere.
He hesitantly reached up to caress her face, He was still a bit worried that a door would come slamming down on it, but this time she didn’t flinch.
“Again…I swear to you…nothing happened. I will never betray you, because you’re the only woman I want,” he said in a whisper.
They searched each others eyes as he slowly moved his thumb across her lips. She felt a bolt of electricity race through her body at his touch. He looked so forlorn, with sorrow clouding his eyes, and water dripping down his face. As she looked at him all she wanted to do was drag him inside and just forget the last 24 hours ever happened, but she couldn’t do that just yet.
“Please let me in,” he said huskily, but she pulled away suddenly and shook her head.
“I don’t think that’s a good idea yet,” she answered flustered.
“Why?” he asked confused.
“Because we both know what will happen if I let you in, and I’m not ready for that yet,” she explained.
A shiver of excitement shot through him when he realized what she was suggesting.
“But you believe me don’t you?" he said anxiously, “I want you so badly.”
He leaned forward to kiss her but she pushed him away.
“Don’t...please? I’m not finished being angry with you about last night…at the club," she said quietly.
He involuntarily hung his head in disgrace. Thinking about the way he treated her made his face burn with shame and he had to look away from her.
As she watched him she could tell from his body language how ashamed he was, and all of the anger she held inside slowly dissipated.
She stood up and opened the door wide, and he turned around and looked at her apprehensively.
“What are you waiting for…a written invitation,” she said.
Now he felt nervous. Did this mean she had forgiven him?
He slowly rose from the step, his clothes soaked through from the rain, and walked towards her. She looked irresistible in her bikini and sarong and he couldn’t help himself.
He reached for her, but she stopped him.
“Don’t touch me,” she said abruptly, “I need to hear what you have to say for yourself.”
He nodded, but he needed to get out of his wet shirt first.
He walked into the cabin, which was lit only by the flames in the fireplace and she watched him begin to take his shirt off.
‘No no no no...don’t do that yet…too late,’ her mind ranted as she watched him peel his shirt off.
She tried to be discreet with her drooling but she wasn’t quite pulling it off.
As he ran his fingers through his hair, water sprayed everywhere, and he took off his saturated shoes before moving to stand in front of her.
They stood facing each other in the glow of the fireplace as they both tried to look each other in the eye and not ogle each others bodies.
“I hope you don’t think that swanning around here with no shirt on is going to make me jump into your arms,” she huffed, a little too defensively.
He couldn’t help but smile a little. He could see the effect he was having over her and loved it, but he needed to convince her that he wasn’t some jealous jerk.
“You know how you felt when you saw Lisa…well that’s how I felt. That’s how I felt when Rob told me he wanted to ask you out, that’s how I felt when I saw him touching you,” he began earnestly.
“Oh James! Its completely different,” Eloise interrupted in an exasperated tone.
“Í know, I know…just let me finish,” he said as he closed his eyes.
“The thought of you with anyone else makes me…I don’t know…crazy, and that mixed with the worst drink I could possibly have…well...it all leads to the ugly version of me that you witnessed last night.”
Eloise searched his eyes and was relieved to see that his words and emotions were genuine…but it wouldn’t be happening again.
“A few years ago I went out with a guy who had major insecurity issues and my life became hell for a while. I swore that I would never go out with anyone like that again. If that is how it’s going to be then I just can’t do this, no matter how strongly we feel about each other,” Eloise said sadly.
James made a mental note to ask her more about that later as he reached out and took her hand.
“What you saw last night wasn’t me,” he said sincerely, “and I can’t promise you that I won’t annoy you, or piss you off in the future…I’m not perfect…but I can promise you that I will never treat you that way or behave that way again. I’m sorry!”
He watched her face soften and his insides sighed in relief. There was still the issue of her resignation to address, but he was reluctant to bring it up at that point. That issue would hold over until tomorrow, so Susan Bower would just have to stew on it for a bit longer. He had her back…that was all that mattered to him.
She looked so desirable in the dimly lit cabin, and the only sound was the crackling of the fire.
At that moment he didn’t want to talk anymore, but there was still one more thing he needed to say.
“I love you,” James said quietly as he reached up to caress her face gently.
Eloise thought her heart was going to explode out of her chest when he uttered those 3 words, and she felt taken aback.
“What was that,’ she asked quietly, still in shock.
“Don’t you dare do a Bridget on me,” he laughed as he pulled her forcefully against him and he wrapped his arms around her.
“I said I love you, I love you, I love you...” he repeated those 3 precious words over and over as he peppered kisses all over her face and then down along her shoulders.
She was in fits of giggles as she wriggled away from his clutches.
“Stop stop stop,” she managed to shriek.
“Whaaaat,” he moaned as he tried to reel her back in.
“There is something very important I have to say to you if you give me a chance,” she said seriously.
All of a sudden his heart dropped.
“Oh God! She doesn’t feel the same way,” he began to fret internally. His insecurity was already rearing its ugly head.
She watched his face fall and saw the doubt cloud his eyes. She realized they really needed to work on this security thing…starting from now.
“I love you too,” she told him beaming, as she ran her hands slowly over his muscular chest and down his arms.
“Really,” he said with equal measures of relief and joy.
She nodded as she tried to control her emotions. She didn’t want to cry…that was for soppy, cheesy romance novels, but the tears welling up in his eyes weren’t helping.
Their desire for each other was now well and truly out of control.
She wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him, slowly at first, but as he moved his hands all over her body the passion between them quickly became uncontrollable.
They reluctantly broke apart, breathing heavily, still allowing their hands to roam each others bodies, their lips only inches apart.
“What do we do now?” James whispered as he seductively untied her sarong and let it fall to the floor.
“Well,” Eloise began hoarsely, “I haven’t slept much in the last 24 hours so….”
“So I need to take you to bed then,” James volunteered quickly.
Before she could answer, he lifted her and she wrapped her legs around his waist. They kissed frantically as they stumbled their way across the cabin, but as they collapsed on the bed together, sleep was the last thing on their minds.

Aww. Perfect. I pretty much have the same compliments that I always say, but I thought of another reason I really like this: it's really believable, and you've got their characters down perfectly for the age they are and how they'd act- adult but still a little childish sometimes (ahem). Love it. It made me kind of sad at parts too, with her little backstory. Feel a bit flat now. Think it's because I'm comparing any Decget-related fic with current storylines and thinking how superior they are.

Absolutely brilliant Suse! Especially loved his declaring his love for her and it mirroring the show:-
“What was that,’ she asked quietly, still in shock.
“Don’t you dare do a Bridget on me,”
Super ;D

Glad to hear it Suse, I had been doing battle with myself over this one, on the one side I am a cold blooded male who has been waiting for them to get together for a really long time but on the other hand I don't want Decget.com to become a sex stories site.
