We didn't do too badly on Nfans awards.
Thanks to Swanny on Nfans:
BEST OF NEIGHBOURS Awards
The Best Actor award is presented to an actor who has done some brilliant work this past year. His character started out as a rebel teen, but went on to meet someone who people deem the love of his life. His character later got engaged, then married, all the while she was pregnant with his baby. He later lost her in a tragic car crash, a storyline which has shown some powerful acting. There is no doubt that this award can be presented to James Sorensen. James came out with 53% of the votes, Alan Fletcher came second at 29% and Scott Major third at 18%.
Best Actress was a closer competition between two nominees. Jackie Woodburne however has emerged as the winner at 45%, with Jane Hall at 39% and Pippa Black at 16%. Jackie has also done some superb work with her character becoming a surrogate mother who is also battling MS. The MS storyline has also seen some heartbreaking moments. Jackie also performed exceptionally well during a storyline in the beginning of 2009 with her character Susan losing her stepson Zeke. Jackie is surely a deserving winner.
Best character overall is a worthy winner for the exact same reasons for the Best Actor award. Declan Napier emerged as the winner at 39% of the votes. Elle Robinson came in second at 24%, and Karl and Susan Kennedy tied at third at 18%.
Best Neighbours stalwart is hands down Harold Bishop, at 39%. Harold, although not seen for long in 2009, has lived on through Ramsay Street history. After his character suffered from pancreatic cancer, he made a miraculous recovery and soon departed from the street. He lived on later through the show with his Ramsay Street book, which later came in useful when the Ramsays arrived in the street. He also continues to live on through Harold's store, ensuring that we would never forget good ol' Jelly Belly. Susan and Lou tied at 21% and Karl came in third at 18%.
Best storyline this year was truly Declan and Bridget, but perhaps not the best storyline but the best story, full stop. 2009 may not have been a strong year for Neighbours but this couple shone through as a highlight of the year. Whether or not you were a fan of Declan, Bridget or them as a couple, it's no doubt they were popular as Bridget played a role in the year's biggest stories, indicated by the fact her character was in every single nomination for this category! Bridget and Declan came out at 47% of the votes, while the aftermath of Bridget's death came second at 32%. The car crash and her death came third at 21%.
She started out as a weak character on the show. Many people loathed her for constant crying and a history-wrecking backstory, however she has truly grown into one of Ramsay Street's best characters. Rebecca Napier has won the Best adult category, with a whopping 53% of the votes. Times seem to be changing for Karl and Susan, is their popularity dying down or do they just need more storylines? Karl came in second at 26% of the votes, and Susan third with 21%.
Uh-oh. It's the Best teen character. They may be loathed this year for their dominance of the show, however that hasn't stopped a close competition for the winner. Donna Freedman has emerged victorious with 39% of the votes, however it was a close battle with Declan at 34%. Bridget came third at 21% and Zeke fourth with a measly 5%. Donna has definitely become a fan favourite, for various reasons. However Declan's popularity also skyrocketed this year with many powerful storylines. It was no wonder it was a close competition.
Best child I thought was a hands down winner with the nominations, however Sophie took out second place with 29%, more than she got in the nominations. The winner was of course the mischievous little demon aka MiniToadie aka Squid: Callum Jones. Comedy sure is a winner with the audience. Callum took this award with a whopping 71% of the votes.
Best couple was always going to be a tough choice. Teens vs. adults. You can never win in a few cases. One short term powerhouse couple rose to 39% in the way of Declan and Bridget, however Decget will post their first loss as Karl and Susan took out this award with 47%! History is another winner it seems with the Awards. Karl and Susan endured a lot this past year, with Susan battling her continuing fight with MS, as well as the surrogacy being another fantastic drama. But they continue to deliver the comedic goods, whether it be Blue boxes with questionable items inside, or terrible filler storylines including the highlight of the week, Karl scraping up dog poo. It's good to see a long term couple take out the award for Best couple. Lucas and Elle came in third at a measly 13%. A good couple they were while it lasted, much potential wasted.
Everybody likes twists. This year saw a few of them. Did we ever see Paul doublecrossing Johnno? I don't think so. That's why that twist took out the Best twist in a plot award. Some good writing that we need to see more of. Lyn turning up at Paul and Rebecca's wedding was pure gold too. Paul doublecrossing Johnno won with 38%, however Lyn turning up at the wedding was close with 32%. Zeke being found alive, although I thought awesome, maybe not the best initiated twist (opening titles can give away a lot ), so only achieved 16%. And Lucas being responsible in Bridget's death, I wouldn't call a twist, but looking back on it, an unexpected connection to predict, yes. That one only achieved 14%.
Best breakup was a questionable award to vote for I'd imagine. Is your best breakup because you wanted the couple apart, or because you thought it was handled well? Either way, Steph and Greg took it out at 32%. They were very much unpopular and I'm glad for sure they're not together. Elle and Lucas came in second at 24%, probably for a very emotional performance. Steve and Miranda, cited as the couple with negative chemistry perhaps, came in third at 18%. Rachel and Ty fourth at 16%, and Donna and Ringo (which time were we talking about though?) fifth at 11%.
Best episode this year went to episode 5707, with a massive 47% of the votes. This episode was of course the brilliant wedding of Declan and Bridget. The episode post-Bridget's death, episode 5738 came in second at 29%, and third was the episode of her death itself, episode 5737, at 24%.
Best villain this year was Paul Robinson, the sometimes-villain-sometimes-nice-once-pantomine-villain-with-a-brain-tumour-and-several-hundred-personalities long term character of the show (say that ten times fast ). He took it out with 39%. Tim Collins, the lawyer who pops up now and again, second at 34%, and Lyn third at 26%.
Best arrival was very close, but it went to India Napier, at 47%. Lyn Scully came in second at 45% (only a one vote difference). Cassandra Freedman and that random dude Robin Hester were obviously unpopular choices with 5% and 3% respectively. Best departure went to Harold Bishop at 34%, a memorable moment it was. Cassandra's classic knocking over the wheelie bins was a great moment for a terrible character, she came in second at 21%. Elle and Nicola West tied at third with 18%, and Ty Harper (was it really a good departure??) fourth at 8%.
Best axing that was long overdue was Mickey Gannon (thank god). The audience agrees at 53%, with Ty Harper at 32% and Miranda at 16%. Mickey winning this award also joins up with his axing being the best decision made by Susan Bower. He won with 63% in that award, killing off Bridget instead of breaking up Decget came second at 26%, and axing Miranda third at 11%.
Best improvement in a character went to two winners: Declan Napier and Elle Robinson. They both hit 34%. Zeke came in second at 21% and Lucas third at 11%.
Best change in the show this year was the return of the daily previews apparently. 39% was the score, the Parkers leaving came second at 34%, Nicola leaving was third at 24% and Bridget gone hit only one vote (3%).
Best continuity error was a close call. The Ramsay History won with 61% of the votes. Continuity sure can be a funny fantastic thing. Susan forgot she can play the piano apparently, and that achieved 39% of the votes.
Best dream sequence was Bridget's premonition.
The Best newcomer of the year was India Napier at 39%, Kate Ramsay came in close with 34%, and Harry Ramsay came in third at 26%. Seems that despite Bridget's hatred in some places, her daughter can still be quite popular. The Ramsays seem to have won some fans despite their terribly written entrance story.
Cameos become annoying from time to time. But the Best cameo apperance went to Lily Allen, with a whopping 63% of the votes. Tim Vine and Andre Rieu tied at second with 18% each.
WORST OF NEIGHBOURS Awards
Believe it or not, there was a lot of bad in Neighbours during 2009. I thought so anyway. These awards will stick that bad onto a stage, stick a spotlight over it and give it a fancy award and then applaud it. The first award is Worst actor and it goes to none other than Fletcher O'Leary! Ya! Fletcher came close with everyone's favourite Aussie sounding African, Dean Geyer. They each achieved 49% and 46% respectively. Sam Clark doesn't seem to be as bad an actor as people make him out to be, with only achieving 6% of the votes.
Aye aye aye, Worst actress has a lot of nominations. So I'm going to give the results at once. Hany Lee took it out at 29%, because no she cannot act to save her life. Eloise Mignon and Ashleigh Brewer tied at 20% for second, Imogen Bailey came third at 9%, and Janet Andrewartha and Nikola Dubois tied for fourth at 6%. Yay for Hany, Decate/Decget fans you fight it out over who's the worse actor, the rest is irrelevant. Moving on.
How many bad characters can you count for Neighbours in 2009? Or in Neighbours overall? Well this category narrowed it down to 4, and one emerged victorious. The Worst character overall is Cassandra Freedman, with nearly half the votes, at 49%. Sunny Lee was closed, at 31%, Bridget and Lyn got third and fourth respectively with 11% and 9%, respectively. While we're on worst characters, the worst adult also goes to Cassandra Freedman (66%, with Steve Parker 26% and Dan Fitzgerald 9%), worst teen goes to Simon Freedman (OMG remember him, I don't, 42%, Sunny Lee 39%, lol imagine having Simon and Sunny in the show..., Kate Ramsay 19%, Ringo Brown 0%), worst child is Mickey Gannon at a whopping massive 80% (Charlie Hoyland 14%, why?, Ben Kirk 6%, Callum Jones 0%). The worst couple goes to Toadie and Sonya on 42%, with Rachel and Ty (19%) at second, Donna and Zeke third on 14%, Steve and Miranda fourth on 11%, Zeke and Sunny fifth on 8%, and Dan and Libby sixth on 6%.
The worst storyline everyone agrees hand down was the deb ball with 50% of the votes. Sunny running away at the music festival wasn't very popular either, gaining 33% of the votes. The Ramsay saga also hit 17% of the votes. The worst arrival was Sunny Lee with 42% of the votes, the Ramsays gained 31% and James Linden, Donna's supposed half brother, gained 28% of the votes for a poor entrance (and poorly executed storyline too ). The worst departure went to Ty Harper with 69% agreeing that we don't ever want to hear a bunch of kids singing "Unforgettable" for the 191236326th time on the show. Mickey Gannon also gained 31% of the votes in that category.
Now to get a bit more serious, worst character axing people agree was Sam Fitzgerald at 44%. It was quite controversial that a popular actor like Simone Buchanan shouldn't have been axed from the show to have the Dan/Libby pairing. Her return didn't help either with a total character butchering and turning the bipolar patient into a poorly planned out villain. Kelly Katsis came in second at 31%, a fairly popular character who yet again was axed despite the somewhat popular pairing with Toadie. Jill Ramsay gained 14%, with no one having a clue as to why they would introduce Paul's half sister only to kill her off instantly. Miranda Parker gained 11% for some reason.
The Worst plot that didn't live up to expectations gained a lot of responses. The triple tied winner was Libby and Steph feud, Guy Sykes's return, and Donna's brother. They each gained 14% of votes. There was a lot of hype surrounding Libby and Steph's feud, mostly thanks to TV Week. However, the supposed war that was supposed to divide the street only ended up lasting two or three episodes, with only one showdown in the General Store and Harold (or Lou?) telling Steph she should leave. The Guy Sykes plot also ended up being a disappointment with the story only lasting four episodes (that and not making much sense). Donna's brother was a trainwreck from start to finish with a poorly planned storyline. Second place went to the deb ball, the box under No. 24, and Paul being a suspect in Jill's death. Third place went to Zeke's OCD and his flashbacks, fourth went to Zeke living with Phil and the Lost Boy storyline.
Steph and Greg have the honours of winning best break up and worst break up (but was for the best). They won with 53% of votes, while Steve and Miranda took second with 33%, and Elle and Lucas on 14%. The worst villain that wasn't really a villain and was just plain annoying was Cassandra Freedman on 64%, while James Linden gained 19% and Lyn Scully gained 17%. The worst character degradation ever went to Dan Fitzgerald. 19% thought his ex-wife Sam was the worst degraded, while 17% thought it was Paul and 14% thought it was Lyn.
And for the big issue... teen overload. That apparently was the worst change to be made on the show this year. It is very much becoming an issue with unpopular teen characters dominating the show and popular adult characters being sidelined as a result. 47% agree that it's an issue. 28% also agree that Bridget leaving was the worst change, 11% disliked Rachel being replaced by Sunny, 8% dislike TWON/TON/NWON, 6% also dislike Dan being allowed more screentime (LOL!). Teen overload also cropped up in the worst decision made by Susan Bower award, with 25% thinking so. However the winner was Ramsay history with 42% of the votes. 14% disliked the "dumbing down of the show", 8% disliked SuBo's idea of Sunny and Unforgettable, and 3% didn't like splitting Lucas and Elle (though would that have been SuBo's idea? )
And for the worst event's, 69% agree that the Ramsay history was the Worst continuity error made this year. 17% thought Susan's health issues not cropping up was bad for continuity, and 14% think the entire show is a continuity error. Worst dream sequence went to Toadie imagining a pregnant Sonya, which was IMO a low point for the show. 14% hate all dream sequences, and Lucas's dream sequence was hated by 11% of voters. Surprisingly, Bridget's dream didn't make it to the voting round for this award (except I suppose the "All of them" choice).
Worst. Episode. Ever. Classic line. That episode was episode 5778, which was notable for nothing other than starring only the teens! 33% hated it, however it came close to Ty's departure episode (5679) which gained 31% of votes. Sunny running away in 5715 gained 19% of votes, and the Ramsay's arrival (5690) gained 17%. The "Blue Box Award" for Cringiest scene this year went to the kids singing Unforgettable to Ty. Urgh. 50% also go "urgh". Steve and Miranda pashing drove away 36% of voters for a few brief moments, and Santa in the sky should never. ever. happen again (according to 14% of voters).
Characters are, of course, a major part of the show. We have our good and our bad ones. We have entertaining ones. 2009's most entertaining Neighbours character is Donna Freedman, with 50% of votes. Karl and Callum tied at 25% each. And for the very opposite, most boring character is Ty Harper, who 50% also agree with. Steve Parker and Kate Ramsay also tie at 25% each.
Most funny character is a very tight draw. Karl Kennedy edges out at 36% of votes, Toadie Rebecchi comes in second at 33% of votes, while Donna Freedman comes third at 31%. Only a two vote difference between third and first! The most cheeky character is Callum Jones, with a whopping 56% of votes. India Napier goes second with 25%, Lou Carpenter third at 11%, and Paul Robinson fourth with 8%. A lot of annoying characters it seems, the most annoying character is Sunny Lee, with 28% of votes. However, with only one vote less, Cassandra Freedman comes in second at 25% of votes. Kate Ramsay goes third at 17%, Kirsten Gannon goes fourth at 14%, Lyn Scully fifth at 8%, Ty Harper sixth at 6%, Teagan Freedman seventh at 3% (one vote that is) and Nicola West eighth with.... 0% (zero votes that is ). Here's hoping next year will see a few less candidates .
Now for the saucy bits... most sexiest male is Declan Napier with 59% of votes. A few older males made second place, Karl Kennedy and Lucas Fitzgerald tied at 21% each. No love for Ty Harper though, 0% thought he was damn irresistible! The Dean Geyer fans must've quickly fled the board after he departed. Most sexiest female is Donna Freedman (I agree!) with 47% thinking so. Elle came in close with second at 42%, and third was Libby Kennedy at 11% (sorry Libby Lover, your girl isn't that popular in the sexy ranks it seems ). Most unattractive character was Cass Freedman (20%), Steve and Harry tying for second at 17% each, Sunny third with 14%, Lyn, Lou and Toadie tied for fourth with 6%, and Zeke fifth at 3%.

Donna Freedman has best character dress sense with 40% of votes. Elle came in second at 37% and Rebecca third at 23%. Worst character dress sense is Sunny Lee at 31%, Kate second at 26%, Bridget and Lyn third at 14%, Toadie fourth at 9% and Dan fifth at 6%.
Best clothing you saw on a male was Declan's shirts apparently. 46% rule. Lucas's shirts were second best with 31%, and Paul's (shirts?) were third with 23%. The worst clothing you saw on a male was Toadie's orange shirt at 51%, Dan's V neck wooly tank was second at 40% and Lucas's jacket was third on 9% (what the hell is wrong with his jacket? LOL)
(for some reason I didn't add in best/worst clothing on a female... oops)
Best fashion moment is Declan and Bridget's wedding on 43%. Susan's red dress was 26%, Lucas and Elle's engagement/Donna's ugg boots were third on 11%, the skelt was 6% and Lyn's black and red top was 3%. The worst fashion moment is the deb on 49%. Dan's tank tops gained 31% of votes, Lyn's red dress gained 11% and Donna's outfit at Paul and Rebecca's wedding gained 9%.
-----------------------------------------------------
Ah, the forum, why we're all here. The FORUM Awards are to praise the forum, and maybe loathe it, within reason so we don't get ourselves banned. However, somehow it caused minor controversy itself as no staff members could nominate or vote in these awards! But nonetheless, let me present these next few awards.
Episode discussions gained 39% of votes as the best thread. Why not? It's the highlight of our visits to this forum. The Declan, Bridget and India appreciation thread gained 28% of votes, the Libby recasting thread and What is Neighbours doing right? thread came third on 11%. The fan cards thread came fourth on 8% and the Aussie ratings thread came fifth on 3%.
The weirdest thread is the thread about Kate sleeping with everyone. (can someone link me to that thread?). 44% of people know what the thread is it seems so 44% should show me it . The Ty Harper appreciation thread also gained 39% of votes as a weird as thread. 17% also find 83ray1's various threads about going back in time to be odd.
NeighboursFans's most pointless thread is... will Ned return? Enough said. 53% also think that. 39% hate the various threads for single questions (whatever happened to the staff members moving those threads into the Can You Help? and Quick Question threads?). The Libby recasting thread also gained 8% of votes.
So what was the best event this year on NeighboursFans? Naww, what the hell, getting a shiny new forum to play with was for sure the best thing ever. 71% think so too. Jackrew being banned was a great day (29%). Jackrew signing up was the worst event (54%). The temporary stand still of the Karl and Susan thread #89 was also the equivalent of the 2012 phenomenon it seems, according to 46% of voters. The funniest event was also Jackrew being banned.
-----------------------
Finally, the MEMBER Awards. Let's start praising some people!
The member who has the best avatars (no, no reference to the film Avatar go see it by the way!) is Carly. 44% think so. Denny and Liljana is Still Alive are tying on second at 17%. Rosa is third on 11%, Swanny (myself) is fourth on 8% (naww thanks guys, I swear I didn't vote for myself ) while Col is fifth on 3%. The worst avatar is the default avatar it seems, 47% say so! 44% also dislike the Jo Hartman avatars, and 9% dislike Col's avatar.
The most memorable member is Sal (really now?) with 31% of votes. Didge Napier and Tracy C are tying on second for 25%, Col is third on 11%, Liljana is Still Alive is fourth on 8% and I luv james sorenson is fifth on... 0%. Sad.
Member most likely to win an award in the real world is Carly on 63%! Liljana is Still Alive is second on 17%, Potato is third on 14%, Col is fourth on 6% and Lisa is fifth on 0%....
The best contributor to the site is Carly on 50%, while Sayaka and Tracy C each gained 25% of appreciation. They all do fine jobs might I add the best staff member is Sal on 53% (suck ups ) while Tracy C came second on 25% and Carly came third on 22%.
The forum's biggest wench is Edward Skylover. For one reason, too many threads! Liljana is Still Alive gained 31% of votes, and Ed got the rest of them .
The forum nutbag is Jackrew on 78%. Only he could persist a several hour long fight with Sal about Libby being recasted. I hope that thread is still on here . 83ray1 came second (possibly first this year ) on 16%, and Liljana is Still Alive is third on 6%, only for being so technically correct all the time . The forum senior is Sal on 61%, while madge102003 gained 21%, and Liljana is Still Alive gained 18% of votes. I think Liljana is Still Alive should win the Awards Wench award . Forum junior goes to neighbours fans 1986 for being a good contributor to the site... without being an actual contributor. He gained 52% of votes, while MDD22 gained 42% and Liljana is Still Alive (again!) gained 6%.
Gone and forgotten is Mrs Bishop and their various reincarnations. Long live Brenda Carpenter! Jackrew is also gone and forgotten on second, as is neighboursxoxo, a former trouble stirrer it seems. Gone but not forgotten is Jackrew, as is evident throughout this thread. Rosa came second for this award, while Lolita was third and Christine is fourth. I hope they are dearly missed.
The "Brenda Carpenter Award" for most obsessive member and their obsession gpes to... the Decgetters! Only they could win this award for so many threads of pure Decget+India gushing... and what have you. It's hard sometimes to not be a fan of the fan themselves. They took out the award with 38% of votes. Winniewoo and her longing for a 'Kusan baby' with Susan in dungarees with plaits™ dream came second wtih 26%, bringbacksindi and his constant former Didge bashing third with 21%, Liljana is Still Alive and Lisa Jeffries fourth with 12%, while Jeffiner and Rafa Benitez was fifth with 3%.

New poll on the official:
Do you think Declan should leave the Street or stay?
Whopping 65% at the moment for No, only James can be Declan, but that could change.
